i have been looking forward to this post for awhile now! i have been mentally planning this post since i bought the latest copy of Blueprint magazine. i hope you all find these ideas and images as inspiring as i do!

i LOVE LOVE LOVE this great idea! since seeing these in Blueprint i have been dying to go to a antique shop and buy pretty cups, saucers and plates to organize my jewelry in!

this is just one example of fun little plates and saucers. i love the bright and pretty colors! this photo is off of Picnic by Ellie's flickr account!

i found this Robin Egg Blue saucer on ChutneyCoast's Etsy shop!

this is yet another great idea from Blueprint! it isn't that difficult to assemble something like this either. all you would need is paint, an old drawer, knobs, and fun paper!

another idea for stylish jewelry storage are jewelry hooks like the ones pictured above! i found this lovely trinket picture is by the talented photographer, Gemma Comas.

here are some great examples of hooks that can be purchased at Anthropologie. i came across this photo on Poof Your a Frog's blog!

i love these bright candy colored pedestal stands! i have one in a bright blue and another in a light green! they are great for storing jewelry. i found them in a random boutique and i have always wished that i would have bought more, so i was quite thrilled when i found them online at Urban Outfitters!

also, at Urban Outfitters are these gorgeous kashmir trays! i love all of the floral detail on them!

Jewelry that deserves a stylish display!

now with all of these colorful and fun ways of storing jewelry i thought that i would share with you some beautiful pieces of jewelry!

this Vanilla Rose Locket is from the Etsy shop of Luxe Deluxe! be sure to stop by her shop. she has a wonderful selection of vintage inspired jewelry!

f i f t y - how to throw a tea party!

i apologize for such a delay in my posting. school mixed with a flooded basement have been the reason for my disappearance! but i'm back! and today's post is on how to throw a tea party! this just makes me so excited for the arrival of spring! i can't wait! this lovely garden party picture is one that i found while exploring on Country Living's website!

Cups! Saucers! & Pots! oh my!

i love love love this stack of beautiful vintage cups! this inspiring picture once again comes from Country Living.

i found this photo of these lovely dainty duos on the flickr account of nhearon2003.

this little pretty is from the website of Fine European Antiques and Accessories. my favorite tea cups have flowers and gold details just like this one! :)

isn't this a beautiful shade of blue for a tea cup?! its oh so pretty! i found this beauty on the wonderful flickr account of fleamarketstudio. Lilia's photos are full of such fun and colorful finds! check out her blog here!

these pretty pink cups and saucers are from the wonderful flickr account of Damselfly58. She is a fabulous photographer and more of her work can be found here.

this victorian style teapot is from the flickr account of The ParTea Planner. also, for more inspiring ideas for tea parties check out her ParTea Planner Blog!

as you may have seen before in my How to Throw a Fabulous New Years Eve Bash! post, i love simple table settings that stick with white, gold, and an accent color. so, for tea parties will stick with this color palette and add pink as our accent color!

this golden cup & saucer were found on Fine European Antiques and Accessories.

this fancy teapot was something that i came across and fell in love with on the flickr account of togrbil2.

i'm in love with moroccan tea glasses and wouldn't these look lovely at a tea party!? at a tea party you should serve more than just tea, also try to serve some sort of cold beverage like ice water or even pink lemonade! you can find these moroccan glasses on the website of Jenny Sweeney Designs!

these plates are from Royal Crown Derby collection and in their Gold Avesbury collection. they can be found online at Small Islander.

and now for our accent color PINK! i thought that this girly lace tablecloth would give the perfect pink touch to a table! you can find it online at Rocket St. George.

for an extra pink sparkle try adding a lovely bouquet of pink flowers (peonies are my current favorite!). this lovely arrangement came from Elegant Creation by Mily!

Scrumptious Treats!

as far as food goes for a tea party you may want to try to go simple. an afternoon tea party may consist of little finger foods such as little sandwiches. but, instead of listing off more ideas i'll go straight to the best part, dessert! when i was little my mom threw me a birthday tea party and we had petit fours like the ones pictured above! they are so simple and add a fun touch to any kind of party! i found these pretty petit fours on the great website of Adorn Magazine!

another fun idea would be to serve fancy cupcakes like this one! for more inspiring cupcake images visit the oh so talented Zalita on her fickr account!

this metal lace cake pedestal would be an amazing tool and decoration for serving either cupcakes or petit fours! you can purchase this one online at amazon.com, just search Metal Lace Cake Pedestal.

Tea Party Fashion!

now as a hostess you must put your best tea dress on! i will show you my top choices for the most lovely tea party dresses!

this gorgeous eyelet sundress can be found on the Delias website. its called the Helena Eyelet Dress
.

this adorable yellow sundress is also from Delias and its called their Carlie Dress.

Tea Party Art!

i found this victorian illustration on Fashion Era.

this illustration is done by the lovely Blaze Danielle and its titled Tea Drinker!

this is yet another illustration by the talented, Blaze Danielle. this one is titled spring picnic!

this beautiful photograph is titled, Eggshell Girl Print. it is up for purchase on Daisies's etsy page!

this picture is one that i took while visiting Alaska this winter. i took it while looking around Bell's Nursery & Gifts.

this picture was taken while i was in Missouri, India. this was my favorite tea shop... and it has probably the cutest name ever, Tip Top Tea Shop!

well, that is all for now. i hope that you all have a wonderful time throwing your dream tea party! enjoy!

f o r t y n i n e - Indian Design & Decor

i couldn't help but make today's post all about indian design and decor! i hope that everyone is as excited and inspired by these eastern designs! i find them to be full of color and intrigue...

this lovely sitting area is an image i found on Jinay Crafts's website! they have a lot of great furniture and ideas, be sure to check them out!

i feel bad but i don't have a link to this picture, and im also not able to give anyone credit for it! if its yours please let me know...its stunning! i love the wall art and the eclectic collection of pillows!

this b&w bedroom set is from the talented mr. Nate Berkus. this Maharani bedding can be found online at Linens & Things.

i love sari quilts! they are so full of color and beautiful patterns. take this quilt from Nova Haat for example! gorgeous huh?

these are just a few of the beautiful examples of indian textiles that i was able to find! i love the block print technique! its simple yet it still offers a complex look! my favorite indian pattern would have to be paisley! i'm slightly obsessed!
the majority of the above patterns came off of the website for Fab India. this is a great store for all of your indian clothing and decor! i made SEVERAL
stops to this store while in India. while shopping at Fab India i bought my lovely bed quilt and a sheet to cover my wall with (i will eventually share pictures of my room decor with you). the last two prints came from another great online store called, Country and Eastern.

i found these gorgeous votives on the wonderful online shop of Monarchs Heaven. they have other beautiful designs that i encourage you all to check out!

this pillow can be found at Urban Outfitters and its called the Elephant Matchbox Pillow. i love how bright and bold it is! it looks a lot like many of the street advertisements i saw in India!

i find these elephant bookends to be very fitting for any indian accented room! these fun bookshelf accents are from Ten Thousand Villages and would look great in a home library or even in a sitting room! :)

while traveling around india last spring i was fortunate enough to get to stay a night at the fabulous and exquisite Neemrana Fort-Palace. here are a few pictures that i took while visiting...

this is the entrance to the main part of the hotel. the palace was originally built only allowing for elephants to arrive at the front gates of the magnificent palace! unfortunately, when i was visited there weren't any elephants but it was still incredible!

this picture is taken from the room that i stayed in. the architecture was amazing! and each room had such unique characteristics!

this stained green glass window was on the door that led to our private balcony that overlooked the dining courtyard as well as Neemrana Village.

this public room in the hotel had one of the best views (especially at sunset!) and it was full of nothing but swings! i thought that i had died and gone to heaven!

this is another room (or what was really a tent!) that some of the other girls on my trip stayed in. it reminded me a little bit of a circus tent...but a more luxurious version!

f o r t y s i x - Widows of India

I realize that the main subject of my blog is décor but today I want to share with you a topic that I find to be more important than decorating. Today, I want to share with you a topic of my interest, widows in India

Amidst the sea of vivid and colorful saris live the women who are made ghosts by their white lifeless saris. Shunned because of their marital status, the widows of Vrindavan, India live a life of solitude, scarcity, and sorrow. Due to Hindu religious beliefs and social traditions many widows in India are abandoned and shunned by their family and friends, leaving them to live a humiliating life on the streets.

Something must be done for these oppressed women. Indian women deserve a life as vibrant and alive as their surroundings! My hope for this post is to help create more awareness on this situation. For more on this issue I encourage all of you to read the article from CNN.com, Shunned from society, widows flock to die . I also suggest that you take a look at the pictures below that were taken by, Claude Renault during his visit to Vrindavan, India. I have also included a trailer for the movie, Water by Deepa Mehta. I am yet to see it, but I ordered it today so I will let you all know how it is soon :)

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I will write more on lighter topics (and on my usual) very soon! I wish you all a very happy Friday!

these images have been cropped to fit
photos have been taken from the flickr account of Claude Renault

NAMASTE.

f o r t y f i v e - My Photography!

lately, i have been feeling like i have been filling my blog up with other people's work and not my own. so, for today's post i will share with you something that i hold very dear to my heart, my photography. i do not own an expensive camera (i have a canon that was bought on sale from my parents for valentines day over 4 years ago), but i feel that my camera works incredibly! i love being able to freeze something in time and keep a visual memory of a moment. i hope you all enjoy some of my favorite pictures that i have taken! :)

i took this photo this past fall while taking a walk through Seattle's quaint Queen Anne neighborhood!

this photo was one i took while staying with a friend's aunt in New Delhi, India.

this was also taken while visiting New Delhi

this photo was taken in Neemrana, India. it is one of my favorites from the trip. if you look closely there are two little girls, one behind the great blue door and another just in front of it! there were little kids running around everywhere in this village!

this photo had been edited over and over and over again. i haven't found a particular way that i have taken a liking to quite yet. i took this picture on a hike with my family two summers ago up at Mt. Rainier

i love this picture! it was taken when the new narrows bridge was being built in Gig Harbor. i was flying in an airplane with my friend joel when this picture was taken.

i took this gorgeous rose picture while at a friend's wedding this past summer. it was a gorgeous wedding!

this leafy picture was taken on my walk through Queen Anne this past fall.

this crazy angled picture was taken in Ballard just two months ago.

i really like this chaotic picture. i feel like my eyes don't know where to focus on it. i took this while staying with family members in my second home, Alaska :)

i know that i have shared this picture with you before but it is probably my favorite that i have ever taken. it was taken two springs ago in Gig Harbor. Magnolias are my favorite flower...hands down!

this picture was taken while hiking with my family in Mt. Rainier.

this sweet little table reminded me of something you would come across while backpacking through Europe, but all i had to do to capture this shot was visit Seattle's Pike Place Market :)

i love this serene picture! it was taken a much large shot of the beach with many more people in it, but this boy just stood out to me. i like to think that he's beckoning the ocean. lovely huh?

well, thank you so much for taking some time out of your day to read my latest post! if i have some extra time later i will try to post on some great decor that i have recently found! i hope you all have a great day!

f o r t y f o u r - Catching Colors!

today, i will be sharing with you a few pictures and ideas that i have found on other inspiring blogs. this post will also have a theme of catching colors! i hope you all enjoy! :)

how amazing is this gorgeous room!? this is such a beautiful use of wall space. i love this aqua green blue walls with the eclectic collection of framed art. stunning. this picture is from Swedish Elle Interiors.

i love the contrast between a golden yellow and a radiant red! don't you?
on found this picture on decor8's flickr account.

another fun way of using and incorporating color is through a colorful assortment of accent pillows, such as in the picture featured above. i also really like the fun wallpaper. its very busy but by carrying the busy theme throughout the whole room it will all be tied together. this picture was also found on decor8's flickr account.

i really like this room that i found featured on bijou kaleidoscope's blog. with this much use of bright colors, the white walls look absolutely perfect! i think my two favorite things about this room is the lantern and also the antique white wrought iron table and chairs. wouldn't this be fitting for a tropical guest room?

this is one picture that i have been meaning to share for quite a while now. i love the idea of bringing more color into a room by painting the brick. if only i could one day own and decorate a loft in a city that would have a brick wall...

this room is stunning! i love the elegance and charm that is mixed with somewhat of a wild side. the soothing purple hues accented by the brighter pinks and yellows makes for such a gorgeous palette! i found this picture on decor8's flickr account.

the great blog, {frolic} inspired me with her entry on Rita Konig's apartment. isn't this pic great?! i love love love that little lamp!

i may not be a huge fan of the color scheme of this room (although all through high school my room was a similar shade of pink), but this has one of the greatest ideas i've come across recently... making a collage headboard! what a fun way to personalize a room. i recently found this idea on decor8's flickr account.

this is my new favorite chair! i love its green leafy pattern! i would LOVE to know where to find one! this picture was also found on decor8's flickr account.

i love this sweet room. the low bed and table mixed with the gorgeous art hanging on the wall lead me to believe that this room had some sort of asian influence! i love the idea of the lowered bed. i found this picture on Desire to Inspire's blog.

a lot of people are turned off by all white kitchens, but this picture may change your mind! i love this white brick-like tile. this not to cold white kitchen just gives off an overall clean and organized feel. i love it! i came across this photo on A Purple Room's blog.

i love the fun accent red furniture in this picture. they contrast so well with the white and light blue kitchen in the background. i also really like the fun patterns! i found this picture on the wonderful blog or Smoke and Ochre.

this is probably one of my most favorite recent finds. i LOVE the arrangement of the little trinkets on this GORGEOUS side table. this somewhat reminds me of the decorating that i have used in my own room (which will be featured someday soon). i owe the credit of this picture to the wonderful Smoke and Ochre blog.

thank you for stopping by! if you also have an inspiring blog and you would like to swap links just let me know! i love making new friends and finding new inspiration! i hope that you all have a fabulous afternoon! :)

f o r t y t w o - Jim Hjelm

i will admit that i am definitely a girly girl. there is something about frilly dresses and formal gowns that makes me oooh and ahhh. i could look at pretty lacy dresses for hours on end. a few years ago i came upon Jim Hjelm a wonderful gown designer. he specializes in wedding attire (both for brides as well as bridesmaids) but his gowns would be stunning no matter the occasion! he is by far my favorite designer. i admit that when my girly side gets the best of me you will likely find me admiring some of Jim Hjelm's gorgeous gowns on his website. i'm sure you will find his creations just as beautiful as i have...enjoy!

this is the most beautiful dress i have ever seen! there is something attractive about a simple lace dress...

mr. hjelm puts so much beautiful detail into each gown. i love the back of this dress. its simple, sophisticated, and sexy. everything a dress should be!

this dress reminds me of the beautiful one that Keira Knightley wore in the movie Atonement.

i'm not usually a fan of two tone dresses but this one is fabulous! its so classy!

i love the sheer sleeves!

this dress just looks like a fun time waiting to happen! it reminds me of something a salsa dancer would wear :)

and last but not least the oh so sophisticated black dress. it goes with anything for any occasion. i love this sleek and simple style. its not too detailed or too plain, its perfect.

i hope that everyone is as in love with the creations of Jim Hjelm as I am!
now if only i could find an excuse to purchase such a dress...
