an indian wedding

an indian wedding is a glamorous and beautiful. typical indian wedding colors are red and gold, but western wedding influence seems to be seeping into india little by little. the following pictures on this post are from the fabulous Nirali Magazine. their website has some of the most beautiful pictures!

indian brides usually wear a gold and red sari because white is seen as a color for mourning. a lot of widows in the hindu culture wear white to symbolize their loss, but overtime more and more indian brides are wearing white on their wedding day (or gold as seen in this picture)

colorful table settings are the key to a indian wedding reception

bright and bold table linens add just the perfect touch!

here is another beautiful example of an indian wedding table setting. this one is full of detail but a little more elegant than the more vibrant and colorful examples.

for more inspiration check out Nirali Magazine online, enjoy!

ooooh one thing you left out of the photo of the bride is a VERY VERY VERY important part of the photo... the reason the bride is photographed fiddling with her earrings is to show off her ornate HENNA!

i'd love some henna artwork ... gorgeous stuff..

the more ornate, the more prestigious the lady's family/caste is... and the more precious/costly she is to the groom :)

i love the vibrant colours.

bronwyn: thanks! i appreciate your sweet feedback!

liz: i couldn't agree more! :)

drey: i cannot believe that i forgot to mention about the henna... it totally meant to! but, i didn't know about the symbolism behind how ornate it is. that is so intriguing. thank you so much for sharing!

Such a beautiful post! Love all the rich colours, as well as learning a little more about Indian weddings. Interesting that white and gold are worn by brides more and more with growning Western influence.
